Mechanical Estimation Engineer - (MEP)

Company Overview

Insharo is seeking a highly analytical and experienced Mechanical Estimation Engineer on behalf of our client, a prominent MEP contracting firm. This is a fully remote position based in Egypt, requiring direct expertise in Saudi Arabian construction regulations and standards to support major MEP projects in the Kingdom.

On behalf of our client—a leading regional contractor executing large-scale civil, infrastructure, and commercial building projects—we are seeking an analytical and detail-oriented Mechanical Estimation Engineer (MEP) based in Egypt to join their engineering team remotely.

Position Overview

The Mechanical Estimation Engineer will play a pivotal role in the pre-construction phase by delivering comprehensive, highly accurate cost estimations for complex Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) projects based in Saudi Arabia. The ideal candidate will combine deep technical expertise in mechanical building systems with an extensive, up-to-date knowledge of the Saudi Arabian Building Code (SBC) and local regulatory frameworks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Detailed Cost Estimation: Review architectural and MEP drawings, project specifications, and tender documents to prepare precise and competitive material, labor, and equipment cost estimations for all mechanical systems (including HVAC, Firefighting, Plumbing, Drainage, and Medical Gas).
  • Quantity Take-off (QTO): Execute detailed and accurate quantity take-offs utilizing advanced digital estimation software and traditional measurement methodologies.
  • KSA Regulatory Compliance: Verify that all estimated designs, proposed materials, and cost selections strictly align with Saudi Arabian regulations, the Saudi Building Code (SBC), civil defense protocols, and municipality standards.
  • Vendor & Supplier Management: Liaison and negotiate with KSA-based and international suppliers, subcontractors, and vendors to obtain competitive pricing, evaluate quotes technically and commercially, and maintain an updated regional cost database.
  • Tender & Proposal Preparation: Build detailed Bills of Quantities (BOQ), formulate comprehensive commercial proposals, and prepare technical qualification submittals required for public (mega/giga-projects) and private tenders.
  • Value Engineering & Risk Assessment: Identify cost-saving alternatives through value engineering without compromising project quality or regulatory compliance. Conduct risk analysis regarding regional material price fluctuations and scope variations.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Coordinate closely with the project management, procurement, and design teams based in KSA to clear up design discrepancies and adjust scopes of work during pre-tender and post-tender stages.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university.
  • Experience: Minimum of 4 to 7 years of professional experience specifically dedicated to MEP/Mechanical estimation.
  • Regional Expertise: Proven, hands-on experience working on projects governed by Saudi Arabian regulations and building codes (SBC). Prior experience estimating for KSA-based infrastructure or building projects is strictly required.
  • Technical Proficiency: Exceptional command of standard estimation and design software, such as PlanSwift, AutoCAD, Revit (MEP), Carrier HAP (for load verification), and MS Excel (Advanced).
  • Language Capabilities: Full professional fluency in written and spoken English and Arabic is mandatory, with a proven ability to compose formal commercial and technical proposals.
  • Remote Readiness: Must possess a robust and stable high-speed internet connection, a high-performance backup infrastructure, and a track record of maintaining strict productivity standards while working autonomously in a remote setup.

  • Weekly Schedule: * Monday through Friday: 11:00 AM – 7:00 PM (KSA Time Zone)
  • Sunday: 4 hours (Flexible/As per operational requirements)
  • Contract Framework: 12-Month independent contractor agreement, fully renewable based on performance and project pipeline.
