What You’ll Do

You’ll play a vital part in ensuring our plant and equipment are running safely and effectively. Your responsibilities include:

• Ensure that all mobile and static plant on site is maintained and repaired, providing recommendations for increasing plant efficiency and cost effectiveness.
• Develop a PPM system for all mechanical equipment on site
• Manage external contractor repairs and planned maintenance work on site, arrange and monitor, in relation to quality, and safety.
• Carry out and record any routine maintenance on all plant and equipment.
• Undertake minor fabrications and welding repairs
• Act as main point of contact to external service providers, as well as appointed building, maintenance and engineering contractors and industrial cleaners.
• Support the planning, installation and commissioning of any new equipment.
• Ensure that all maintenance and related tasks are conducted in a safe working manner and that any incidents or accidents and hazards are duly reported.
• Assist in the planning and alterations and development to any infrastructure on site.
• Ensure the maintenance workshop and stores are kept in a clean and tidy condition and to contribute an acceptable level of housekeeping on the site.
• Assist when required in relevant maintenance work at other Timberpak locations particularly Washington.
• Liaise with the Site Manager as to the condition of the mechanical and electrical equipment or related production problems.

What We’re Looking For

• Minimum NVQ Level 3/City & Guilds in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• Previous experience as a Plant Fitter or similar mechanical role
• Strong knowledge of plant machinery maintenance and repair
• Ability to diagnose and resolve mechanical issues efficiently
• Good attention to detail and commitment to safety
• Supervisory experience or experience of managing external contractors.
• Experience of maintaining conveyors, 306 Grabs, loading buckets
• Experience of shredders would be advantageous
• Knowledge of relevant Health and Safety Legislation.
• Intermediate standard of IT skills and competent use of Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Good communication skills.
