Mechanical Inspector

Job Summary

We are seeking a qualified and detail-oriented Mechanical Inspector / Site Engineer to oversee mechanical works during the construction phase of projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring all mechanical installations, testing, commissioning, and site activities are carried out in accordance with project specifications, contract requirements, applicable codes, and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

Site Management & Construction Supervision

  • Review project contract documents and monitor construction activities to ensure compliance with project requirements.
  • Inspect and monitor mechanical installations, equipment placement, and system components.
  • Verify equipment settings, alignment, testing, and commissioning requirements.
  • Conduct field inspections and evaluate mechanical field tests as required.
  • Ensure all mechanical and utility works are executed in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, contract documents, and applicable codes.
  • Monitor construction progress against the approved project schedule and report any deviations.
  • Inspect work in progress for compliance with approved shop drawings, method statements, and project specifications.
  • Coordinate with contractors, consultants, and relevant authorities to facilitate project execution.
  • Work closely with site technicians and project teams to ensure smooth implementation of mechanical works.
  • Assist in the review of shop drawings and as-built drawings.
  • Prepare site measurements, surveys, and inspection reports as required by the Resident Engineer (RE) and Mechanical Engineer.
  • Maintain accurate project documentation and ensure records are updated and traceable.

Quality Assurance, Quality Control & Technical Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with project specifications, applicable codes, standards, and client requirements.
  • Review and provide comments on material submittals and samples when required.
  • Implement and maintain Quality Assurance (QA) and Quality Control (QC) procedures on site.
  • Monitor project quality performance and recommend corrective actions when necessary.
  • Report non-conformities, safety concerns, and unusual site observations to the immediate supervisor.
  • Ensure site personnel comply with health, safety, environmental, and risk management regulations.
  • Support and monitor testing and commissioning activities to ensure successful project handover.
  • Verify that all mechanical systems are installed in accordance with National Mechanical Code requirements and project standards.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • Proven experience in mechanical inspection, construction supervision, or MEP projects.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, utilities, testing & commissioning, and QA/QC procedures.
  • Familiarity with relevant mechanical codes, standards, and construction practices.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
  • Excellent communication, coordination, and reporting skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and engineering documentation software is an advantage.
