Job Summary:

The Mechanical Inspector (HVAC & Water Chilling Systems) is responsible for inspecting, monitoring, and ensuring that all mechanical installations particularly HVAC and chilled water systems meet project specifications, applicable codes, and quality standards. The role involves close coordination with contractors, consultants, and project stakeholders to ensure mechanical systems are installed and commissioned correctly.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct site inspections of mechanical installations including HVAC systems, chilled water plants, piping networks, ductwork, and mechanical equipment.
• Review mechanical drawings, technical submittals, method statements, and material specifications for compliance with project requirements.
• Verify the installation of water-cooled and air-cooled chillers, cooling towers, pumps, AHUs, FCUs, VAVs, and associated systems.
• Inspect chilled water piping, insulation, valves, and supports for proper installation and pressure/leak testing.
• Ensure HVAC systems comply with ASHRAE standards, SMACNA guidelines, and relevant local/international codes.
• Monitor testing, adjusting, and balancing (TAB) of HVAC systems and witness functional performance tests during commissioning.
• Identify non-conforming work and issue NCRs (Non-Conformance Reports) as required.
• Coordinate with consultants and contractors for issue resolution and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
• Prepare and submit detailed inspection reports, daily logs, and progress updates.
• Assist in mechanical system commissioning and turnover documentation.

Qualifications:

• Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.

Experience:

• 5+ years of relevant experience in UAE mechanical inspections with a focus on HVAC and chilled water systems.
• Strong knowledge of HVAC design, installation practices, and mechanical commissioning processes.

Certifications (preferred but not always required):

• Certified Mechanical Inspector (CMI), ASHRAE Membership, or relevant trade certifications.
• OSHA or safety training certificates.

Skills:

• Familiarity with mechanical codes and standards (ASHRAE, SMACNA, NFPA, ISO).
• Strong understanding of HVAC control systems and Building Management Systems (BMS).
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and specifications.
• Effective written and verbal communication.
• Proficiency with inspection software and tools (e.g., MS Office, Procore, AutoCAD, Bluebeam).

Working Conditions:

• Frequent site visits to active construction or mechanical plant locations.
• Must be able to walk, stand, climb, and access confined spaces as needed.
• May involve exposure to heat, noise, and mechanical hazards (PPE required).
