About the Role
We are seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer with proven expertise in automation, SPM (Special Purpose Machine) design, and product development. The candidate will play a key role in leading design teams, handling multiple projects, solving complex engineering challenges, and upgrading existing machines.
This role requires a balance of hands-on technical depth, leadership, and strategic planning to deliver innovative, cost-effective, and reliable automation solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead design and development of automation systems, SPMs, and pick-and-place equipment
- Handle and mentor a team of design engineers, driving design quality and efficiency
- Plan and manage multiple projects, ensuring adherence to timelines and budgets
- Take ownership of automation projects from scratch (concept-to-deployment)
- Lead design planning, Design Approval Process (DAP), and design review cycles
- Create and validate 3D models, detailed engineering drawings, and BOMs
- Apply GD&T, DFM, DFA, and Maintenance Ease principles across all designs
- Troubleshoot and solve complex design and manufacturing problems
- Take over existing machines, analyse issues, and redesign/optimize them for performance, cost, and reliability
- Work with sheet metal, machining, fabrication, and advanced manufacturing processes
- Collaborate with R&D, manufacturing, procurement, and assembly teams for prototyping and validation
- Maintain complete design documentation, project tracking, and compliance with internal quality standards
- Product Development: Lead and support the full product development lifecycle, from concept to commercialization. This includes brainstorming, design, prototyping, and testing new products.
Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Automation, or Design Engineering
- Experience: 10+ years in mechanical design (automation/machine building preferred)
- Leadership Skills:
- Proven experience leading and managing a design team
- Ability to handle multiple projects and stakeholders simultaneously
- Strong design planning and DAP (Design Approval Process) expertise
- Technical Skills:
- Strong expertise in automation, SPM, and custom machine design
- Proficiency in SolidWorks, Autodesk Inventor, Fusion 360, AutoCAD
- In-depth knowledge of GD&T, machining, sheet metal, and fabrication
- Hands-on experience with machine building, prototyping, and R&D
- Proven ability to troubleshoot, redesign, and optimize existing machines
- Practical application of DFM, DFA, and Maintenance Ease principles
- Soft Skills:
- Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking
- Excellent communication, leadership, and mentoring abilities
- Ability to work under pressure and deliver results
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: ₹800,000.00 - ₹1,400,000.00 per year
