Premier Industries is a family-owned manufacturing company specializing in custom machinery, automation equipment, tooling, fixtures, gages, and component fabrication. We design, build, and test machines using our in-house engineers, welding department, machine shop, and assembly area. The mechanical machine designer is expected to meet with customers as needed to understand project scope, design and develop (3D model) solutions that satisfy customer needs, and guide the build through the shop by checking on progress and answering questions as needed. Design projects can range from tooling and fixtures to fully automated robot cells / production lines and everything in between. There is a lot of freedom and independence in this position as well as a lot of work variety and opportunities for personal development and growth. The mechanical machine designer works closely with customers, the controls department, and the shop to ensure the final machine works as desired. Most work is done onsite at Premier Industries but some travel may be needed infrequently (less than 10% of the time) with very rare overnights (if any).

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will:

· Have 5+ years of machine design experience

· Have 5+ years of 3D modeling and drawing experience. SolidWorks or Autodesk Inventor is preferred

· Understand dimensional tolerances and how to use them

· Be confident and capable specifying and working with different commercial components found on a machine (bearings, shafts, ball screws, motors, actuators, gearboxes, etc.)

· Be able to read, interpret, and generate detailed mechanical drawings

· Experience with pneumatics and hydraulics is a plus

· Be able to work independently and as part of a team

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $25.00 - $45.00 per hour
