The Mechanical Maintenance Technician I is an integral member of our campus services team, specializing in HVAC, mechanical, electrical, and automotive systems. This position is primarily Monday through Friday, 1st shift, but requires flexibility to work evenings, weekends during winter storms, and participate in an on-call rotation.

The expected pay is $24.00 per hour (annualized to $49,920). Total compensation is between $66,525 and $79,443, depending on which medical and dental plans are selected.

Responsibilities
  • Perform a variety of HVAC and Building Automation System (BAS) maintenance tasks, primarily related to preventative maintenance such as filter and belt replacements, along with basic troubleshooting and repairs.
  • Maintain an appropriate inventory of supplies and materials.
  • Perform daily maintenance operations related to mechanical, automotive fleet, and/or electrical systems.
  • Complete all daily work assignments.
  • Carry on-call phone responsibilities after training and qualification are met.
  • Maintain tools, equipment, shop, and vehicle in good working order.
  • Assist with snow removal activities, including shoveling, snow blowing, and plowing.
  • Comply with all occupational safety and health standards, rules, and regulations, and report any hazards, unsafe work practices, or accidents immediately to the supervisor.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Qualifications
  • High school education, along with any relevant technical training or field experience.
  • Interest in pursuing future technical licensing.
  • Basic technical knowledge and skills related to heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) system operation, as well as BAS maintenance and repair.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds, and perform various physical activities including crouching, kneeling, stooping, reaching, balancing, crawling, and climbing ladders as necessary to fulfill job duties.
  • Primarily a Monday through Friday, first-shift job, with the ability to work evenings, weekends for winter storms, and on-call rotation as needed.
