Mechanical / Process Engineer (Qatar Steel)

Qatar Steel produces steel products used in construction and infrastructure projects.

A Mechanical or Process Engineer at Qatar Steel works in a heavy industrial plant environment, focusing on steel production systems like furnaces, rolling mills, and cooling systems.

Key Responsibilities

Equipment & Maintenance (Mechanical Engineer)

Maintain and repair plant machinery (motors, pumps, conveyors)

Perform preventive and corrective maintenance

Diagnose mechanical failures and minimize downtime

Coordinate with maintenance teams and contractors

Production Optimization (Process Engineer)

Monitor steel production processes (melting, casting, rolling)

Improve efficiency, output, and product quality

Analyze production data and implement process improvements

Ensure smooth workflow across production lines

Safety & Compliance

Follow strict industrial safety standards

Conduct risk assessments and ensure HSE compliance

Reporting & Coordination

Prepare technical reports and performance data

Work with operations, quality control, and engineering teams

Skills & Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in:

Mechanical Engineering or Chemical/Process Engineering

Experience:

Entry-level: 1–3 years

Mid-level: 3–8+ years (preferred in steel, oil & gas, or manufacturing)

Technical knowledge:

Industrial machinery & maintenance systems

Steel production processes (EAF, rolling mills)

CAD/software tools (AutoCAD, SAP is a plus)
