Mechanical Project Engineer – Roles & Responsibilities (Dubai – UAE)
1. Project Planning & Coordination
- Plan, schedule, and coordinate all mechanical project activities (HVAC, plumbing, drainage, firefighting).
- Review project specifications, IFC drawings, and contract documents.
- Coordinate with consultants, clients, main contractors, and other disciplines to resolve technical issues.
2. Site Execution & Supervision
- Supervise and monitor mechanical installation works to ensure compliance with approved drawings and UAE standards.
- Manage site teams, technicians, and subcontractors to achieve daily and weekly targets.
- Conduct regular inspections and ensure proper implementation of method statements and QA/QC procedures.
3. Authority Compliance (Dubai Standards)
- Prepare and submit drawings, materials, and documents for approval to:
- Dubai Civil Defense (DCD)
- Dubai Municipality (DM)
- DEWA (for water supply interface)
- DDA / Trakhees / Nakheel / Emaar (based on project)
- Arrange and attend inspections with authorities and consultants.
4. Technical Submittals & Documentation
- Prepare and review technical submittals, RFIs, method statements, MIRs, and WIRs.
- Review shop drawings and coordinate for revisions based on consultant comments.
- Maintain project documentation, logs, and engineering records.
5. Procurement & Material Handling
- Identify material requirements based on project specifications.
- Coordinate with suppliers for quotations, sample submissions, and delivery schedules.
- Verify materials delivered to site and ensure they match approved submittals.
6. Cost Control & Progress Monitoring
- Prepare BOQs, material take-offs, and cost estimates.
- Monitor project progress, report delays, and propose corrective actions.
- Assist in preparing variations, claims, and project cost updates.
7. Testing, Commissioning & Handover
- Supervise testing and commissioning of HVAC equipment, pumps, firefighting systems, and plumbing networks.
- Coordinate with TAB (Testing & Balancing) teams for HVAC system performance.
- Prepare as-built drawings, O&M manuals, and ensure smooth handover.
8. Quality, HSE & Compliance
- Ensure work execution meets quality standards, safety procedures, and UAE Fire & Life Safety Code.
- Conduct toolbox talks and ensure site compliance with HSE regulations.
- Identify and resolve site issues to prevent rework and maintain quality.
