The Mechanical QA/QC Inspector is responsible for ensuring that all mechanical works executed at site comply with approved drawings, project specifications, applicable codes, and quality standards. The role involves inspection, testing, documentation, and coordination with project teams to maintain the highest quality of mechanical installations throughout the construction phase.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct inspections for all mechanical works including HVAC, plumbing, drainage, firefighting, and related systems.
- Ensure mechanical installations comply with approved shop drawings, method statements, project specifications, and international standards.
- Review and verify material submittals, inspection requests (IRs), method statements, and test plans.
- Witness and record inspections and tests such as pressure testing, flushing, balancing, and commissioning activities.
- Prepare and maintain QA/QC documentation including inspection reports, NCRs, punch lists, and test records.
- Identify non-conformities and follow up on corrective and preventive actions until closure.
- Coordinate with consultants, contractors, and site engineers for inspection approvals and quality issues.
- Monitor workmanship quality and ensure implementation of approved quality procedures at site.
- Ensure all mechanical materials delivered to site are approved and properly stored.
- Support final inspections, handover documentation, and as-built drawings.
- Ensure compliance with local authority requirements and relevant Qatar construction standards.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
- Minimum total experience: 10 years in mechanical works for building construction projects.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a similar Mechanical QA/QC Inspector role on building projects.
- Strong experience in HVAC, plumbing, firefighting, and mechanical services installation.
- Good knowledge of international codes and standards (ASHRAE, NFPA, BS, ASTM, ISO, etc.).
- Experience working on high-rise, commercial, residential, or mixed-use building projects is preferred.
- Familiarity with QA/QC procedures, inspection test plans (ITPs), and project documentation.
Skills & Competencies:
- Strong knowledge of mechanical systems and quality inspection processes.
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and technical specifications.
- Good reporting and documentation skills.
- Effective communication and coordination abilities.
- Proficiency in MS Office and basic QA/QC documentation tools.
- Ability to work independently and under project deadlines.
