External Works, Chillers, Generators & Diesel Systems (Mechanical QA/QC) Specialist

Reporting To: QA/QC Mechanical Team Lead

Specialist Engineer responsible for overseeing and ensuring the quality, compliance, and proper execution of all mechanical-related external works. This includes chiller plant areas, generator rooms, diesel storage and transfer systems, associated pipework, and integration with electrical and control systems. The role ensures that all installations and testing activities meet project specifications, authority requirements, and industry standards.

This is a critical position with an immediate start requirement due to the project’s execution schedule.

Key Responsibilities

1. Mechanical QA/QC for External Works

Conduct inspections for all external mechanical works, including:

  • Chiller plants and external chiller piping
  • Generator rooms and enclosures
  • Diesel tanks, fuel systems, and transfer lines
  • Exhaust systems and ventilation ductwork for generators
  • Verify installations against approved IFC drawings, shop drawings, and project specifications.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant codes (ASHRAE, NFPA, local authority standards).

2. Material & Documentation Review

  • Review and verify mechanical material submittals for external systems.
  • Ensure materials onsite match approved submittals and meet specification requirements.
  • Review method statements, ITPs (Inspection & Test Plans), and checklists related to external works.

3. Testing & Commissioning Support

Witness and verify functional tests for:

  • Chillers and condenser water systems
  • Diesel generator mechanical systems
  • Fuel transfer pumps and tank systems
  • Ventilation and exhaust systems
  • Validate pressure tests, leak tests, flushing procedures, and system performance checks.

4. Coordination with Electrical and Control Teams

  • Ensure proper mechanical/electrical integration of external systems, including:
  • Generator mechanical interfaces with electrical load banks
  • Fuel system integration with control panels
  • Chiller system coordination with electrical switchgear
  • Resolve interface issues during installation and commissioning phases.

5. Quality Assurance & Reporting

  • Maintain detailed inspection logs, QA/QC reports, and test verification records.
  • Participate in weekly QA/QC and coordination meetings with contractors and stakeholders.

6. Authority and Client Coordination

  • Support inspections with local authorities (e.g., Civil Defense for diesel systems).
  • Ensure all documentation and site readiness meet regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinate with consultant/client representatives for inspections and approvals.

7. Site Supervision & Compliance

  • Monitor daily external mechanical works to enforce quality and safety compliance.
  • Ensure work is executed according to project schedule and milestones.
  • Identify technical issues early and escalate to the Mechanical QA/QC Engineer or Team Lead.

Qualifications & Requirements

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent (Mandatory).
  • Immediate availability to join (Mandatory).
  • 4–8 years of experience in mechanical QA/QC roles, preferably in data centres, infrastructure projects, industrial facilities, or MEP projects.
  • Strong knowledge of:

Chillers & chilled water systems

Diesel generators (mechanical components)

Fuel storage and distribution systems

Pressure testing, flushing, and commissioning

Mechanical–Electrical interface works

Experience in reviewing shop drawings, method statements, and ITPs.

Strong understanding of international standards (ASHRAE, NFPA 30, NFPA 110, SMACNA, etc.).

Additional Information

  • Role requires working closely with QA/QC Managers, Mechanical Leads, and Electrical-Mechanical interface teams.
  • Candidates must be capable of handling intensive QA/QC documentation and field inspections.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: AED6,000.00 - AED7,500.00 per month
