Job Title: Mechanical Engineer – Mechanical Technician – Water Treatment & Recycling Systems

Position Summary
The Mechanical Technician is responsible for the installation, operation, maintenance, and repair of mechanical equipment used in water treatment, wastewater recycling, and industrial water recovery systems. This role ensures that all mechanical systems operate safely, efficiently, and in compliance with environmental and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
1. Mechanical Maintenance & Repair
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on pumps, pipelines, membranes housings, valves, mixers, blowers, clarifiers, filters, and other rotating equipment.
- Troubleshoot mechanical failures in water treatment and recycling systems such as RO (Reverse Osmosis), UF (Ultrafiltration), MBR (Membrane Bioreactor), and STP/ETP systems.
- Conduct alignment, lubrication, seal replacement, overhauls, and general mechanical servicing.
2. Installation & Commissioning
- Assist in the installation and commissioning of water treatment and recycling equipment and mechanical systems.
- Perform system checks, pressure testing, flow testing, and functional verifications during startup.
3. Operations Support
- Support operations personnel in monitoring daily performance of mechanical equipment.
- Ensure that pumps, filters, membranes, and recycling systems operate at optimal efficiency.
- Respond to emergency breakdowns and support continuous plant operations.
4. Inspection & Monitoring
- Conduct routine inspections of mechanical systems to identify leaks, vibration issues, and wear/tear.
- Monitor performance parameters such as flow rates, pressures, and mechanical noise levels.
5. Documentation & Reporting
- Record maintenance tasks, equipment history, breakdown reports, and spare parts usage.
- Update job logs and maintenance reports in the CMMS system or maintenance register.
6. Safety & Compliance
- Follow all safety and environmental guidelines related to water treatment facilities.
- Ensure mechanical work complies with plant safety standards, ISO requirements, and environmental regulations.
- Use appropriate PPE and maintain safe work practices at all times.
7. Continuous Improvement
- Suggest improvements to equipment performance, preventive maintenance schedules, and plant reliability.
- Assist in upgrading mechanical components to enhance system efficiency.
Qualifications & Requirements Education
- Diploma/ITI/Technical Certificate in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Maintenance, or related field.
Experience
- 2–5 years of experience in mechanical maintenance in water treatment plants, wastewater recycling plants, recycling units, or industrial utilities.
Skills
- Strong knowledge of pumps, piping systems, valves, rotating equipment, and mechanical tools.
- Ability to read mechanical drawings, P&IDs, and equipment manuals.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Basic understanding of electrical and instrumentation systems is an advantage
Other Requirements
- Ability to work in plant environments, confined spaces, and outdoor conditions.
- Willingness to work shifts, overtime, or on-call when needed.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
Working Conditions
- Work performed in water treatment plants, recycling facilities, industrial environments, and field locations.
- Exposure to chemicals, noise, wet surfaces, and rotating machinery (with safety controls provided).
