Position Summary

Beagle Technology is seeking a hands-on Mechanical Technician to support the maintenance, repair, assembly, and field operation of our autonomous harvesting systems. This role will be based in our Santa Maria office and will work closely with our engineering team to ensure our harvesters remain reliable, safe, and field-ready.

The ideal candidate enjoys working with mechanical systems, troubleshooting equipment issues, and supporting field testing activities in agricultural environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance, inspections, and repairs on Beagle harvesters and supporting equipment.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical issues.
• Assemble, install, and modify machine components and prototypes.
• Support field testing, equipment demonstrations, and customer deployments.
• Maintain service records, maintenance logs, and repair documentation.
• Inspect equipment before and after field operations to ensure safe and reliable performance.
• Assist engineers with machine improvements, upgrades, and validation testing.
• Operate hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and shop machinery safely.
• Maintain an organized and safe workshop environment.
• Travel occasionally to customer sites or field locations as needed.

Qualifications

• Associate degree, technical certification, or equivalent hands-on experience in Mechanical Technology, Agricultural Mechanics, Industrial Maintenance, or a related field.
• 2+ years of experience maintaining mechanical equipment, agricultural machinery, industrial equipment, or mobile machinery preferred.
• Strong understanding of mechanical systems, hydraulics, bearings, chains, sprockets, and drive systems.
• Ability to read mechanical drawings, assembly instructions, and technical documentation.
• Experience using common hand and power tools.
• Welding and fabrication experience is a plus.
• Forklift certification or equipment operation experience is a plus.
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
