Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced
Mechanical Technician III
to support manufacturing engineering projects focused on
equipment installations, capacity expansions, and mechanical troubleshooting
.
This role will support the installation, commissioning, and debugging of manufacturing equipment while collaborating with engineering teams, operations personnel, and external vendors.
The technician will play a key role in ensuring equipment operates reliably and efficiently before it is transitioned to production operations.
Key Responsibilities
Equipment Installation & Commissioning

Support installation and startup of new manufacturing equipment and production lines.

Assist with line debugging and mechanical troubleshooting during equipment commissioning.

Align, test, and calibrate mechanical systems following installation.
Mechanical Troubleshooting

Diagnose and repair complex mechanical systems including:
-
pumps
-
motors
-
conveyors
-
hydraulics
-
pneumatic systems
-
Analyze failures and identify root causes to implement long-term solutions.
Manufacturing Process Support
-
Design and implement mechanical improvements to enhance equipment performance.

Collaborate with engineering teams to resolve process and equipment issues.
Documentation & Training
-
Develop and update engineering and operational documentation.
-
Support training of operations staff on equipment changes and new processes.
Spare Parts & Equipment Support
-
Identify spare parts requirements and coordinate inventory entries.
-
Maintain awareness of available spare parts across plant locations.
Vendor & Cross-Functional Collaboration
-
Work closely with equipment vendors and suppliers to resolve technical issues.

Coordinate with multiple functional teams to meet project timelines and milestones.
Required Qualifications
Education
-
Associate degree required
Experience
-
3+ years of experience installing manufacturing equipment
-
Experience working in fast-paced manufacturing environments
-
Experience supporting equipment startups or commissioning is preferred
Required Skills
-
Strong mechanical troubleshooting skills
-
Knowledge of
hydraulics, pneumatics, bearings, gear systems, and conveyor systems
-
Ability to read and interpret
technical drawings, blueprints, and schematics
-
Experience using
hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment
-
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
-
Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office

Familiarity with
CMMS systems
for maintenance tracking

Experience working with
commercial manufacturing equipment

CAD experience

Vendor or supplier coordination experience

Certifications (Preferred)

Travel may occur between
Newton and Hickory, NC facilities

Standard 40-hour work week with
expected overtime during project installations
