The Mechanical Utilities Section Head is responsible for leading all mechanical utility operations, maintenance, and reliability programs across the pharmaceutical facility. This includes full oversight of water systems (RO, softeners, potable, chilled water, hot water), steam systems, compressed air systems, boilers, fire pumps, fuel/diesel systems, plumbing networks, drainage, sewage, and general facility mechanical maintenance.
This role ensures mechanical utilities operate safely, efficiently, and continuously in compliance with GMP, EHS, and regulatory standards while providing vital support to manufacturing operations.
- Mechanical Utilities Operation & Maintenance: lead the operation and preventive/corrective maintenance of water systems.
- Asset Reliability & System Performance: Implement reliability-centered maintenance strategies to reduce failures and extend asset life.
- Compliance, Quality & Safety: Ensure all mechanical utilities meet: GMP, GDP, and pharmaceutical compliance requirements.
- Team Leadership & Contractor Management: Lead and develop a team of technicians, supervisors, and contractors.
- Lead installation, commissioning, and qualification of new mechanical utility systems, prepare and review technical specifications, FAT/SAT.
- Troubleshooting & Root Cause Analysis: Lead diagnosis of major equipment issues across water, steam, fuel, and air systems, conduct RCA for repeated failures and implement long-term corrective actions.
Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field (Master’s degree is a plus).
- 8-12 years of experience in mechanical utilities management, preferably within a pharmaceutical or manufacturing environment.
- Experience in GMP-regulated pharmaceutical, food, or industrial manufacturing.
- Deep understanding of water systems, steam systems, compressed air, boilers, HVAC utilities, and plumbing networks.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical codes, P&IDs, reliability systems, and safety regulations.
- Experience with CMMS systems (SAP PM, Maximo, etc.).
- Strong leadership, planning, and communication skills.
