Mechanical Works Preparator - New Ship Building

Qualifications & Experience

  • Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Marine Engineering.
  • Proven experience (3+ years) in a work preparation, planning, or coordination role within shipbuilding, marine construction, offshore or oil & gas production environments.
  • Strong ability to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and installation sequences.
  • Knowledge of mechanical systems and equipment on the vessels as well as clear understanding of fabrication/installation methodologies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review and verify mechanical Production Work Packages (PWPs) for completeness, scope clarity, and technical accuracy.
  • Check availability and adequacy of drawings, specifications, and technical documentation; coordinate with Engineering to resolve gaps or revisions.
  • Verify material and equipment delivery lists against the construction plan; identify shortages or delays and coordinate with Procurement and Project Management.
  • Prepare and organize clear, executable work packs including scope, drawings, material lists, and installation requirements.
  • Support planning by providing work readiness status, man-hour estimates, and preparation progress.
  • Coordinate interfaces between Mechanical and Piping works closely as well as between other disciplines to avoid clashes and rework.
  • Communicate work preparation status and constraints to mechanical supervisors and production teams.
  • Monitor preparation milestones and report risks, constraints, and mitigation actions.
  • Support inspections, documentation control, and as-built data collection.

Pay: AED4,500.00 - AED6,500.00 per month
