Med Clerk Coordinator

Purpose: To provide assistance with all medical, dental and therapeutic appointments to people receiving services in accordance with COI values.


Qualifications


  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Human Services experience or 1 year of experience in the medical field preferred.
  • Valid Colorado Drivers' license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Must be able to successfully complete Medication Administration Course, 1st Aid/CPR within 90 days of hire or promotion.
  • Acceptable criminal background check.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities


Medical Responsibilities

  • Coordinates all medical, dental, and therapeutic appointments for all persons receiving services and takes the clients to and from all appointments.
  • Assist in the set-up and maintenance of charts and records for each person served.
  • Assure the proper completion and distribution of paperwork, including referrals, medical histories/summaries.
  • Assist in appropriate distribution of medical information and records.
  • Complete and document needed medication counts.
  • Participate in medication distribution.
  • Picks medication up from pharmacies (double checks them), puts new doctor's orders in place, handles all issues with adaptive equipment etc.
  • Prepares all the CPO's, Medical history's medical releases, MARS, personal care sheets etc.
  • Addresses all medical-related issues for each client, assuring they have proper medical insurance and handling any medical insurance issues.
  • Generate reports, initiate med sheets and utilize database.
  • Review and/or complete all assigned paperwork.
  • Does all the filing in medication books, making sure new orders get to those who had changes.


Teamwork


  • May provide training for medical clerks.
  • Provide assistance to other medical clerks when needed and possible.
  • Help maintain the organization and upkeep of the Medical Support Office.
  • Communicates client related issues to the nurse when needed.
  • Effectively communicate with all program areas and work with others in a helpful manner.
  • Perform duties and conduct interactions with agency staff, persons served, and the public in a manner consistent with COI values and always maintaining a positive and respectful attitude.
  • Deal with stress and stressful situations in an effective, productive manner.
  • Promotes and maintains appropriate professional and ethical relationships in accordance with policies, rules and regulations.
  • Satisfactorily complete all required training.
  • Work with minimal supervision and recognize situations where assistance is needed
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • To meet regularly with the medical supervisor/nurse to discuss ongoing issues.
  • Satisfactorily complete all required training.
  • Drive agency vehicles and transport clients.
  • Work with minimal supervision and to recognize situations where assistance is needed.
  • Manage stress and stressful situations in an effective and productive manner.
  • Promote and maintain appropriate professional and ethical relationships in accordance with policies, rules and regulations.
  • Maintain appropriate professional relationships with the medical community.
  • Other reasonable duties as assigned by the medical supervisor.


Physical Demands/Environmental Conditions: Work as a Medical Coordinator can be physically demanding. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.


  • Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds alone and up to 100 pounds with assistance.
  • Must exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently.
  • The employee is frequently required to walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach forward with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit, stoop, kneel, or crouch.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Specific talking abilities required for this job include expressing or exchanging ideas by means of spoken word. This is especially crucial when detailed or important spoken instructions must be conveyed to other workers accurately.
  • Specific hearing abilities required by this job include perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction, having the ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, and making fine discriminations in sound.
  • Medical Coordinator may be subject to chemicals and infectious diseases. Medical Coordinators are trained on and are required to follow Universal Precautions.


Supervision


  • The Medical Coordinator will be directly supervised by the Medical Supervisor. The Medical Coordinator will have no supervisory responsibility.
