At Goathouse Refuge, we're dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming cats in need. Our mission is to provide a safe and loving environment for cats while helping them heal and find their forever homes. We are seeking a compassionate Veterinary Med Technician (Certification not required) to join our team and provide top-quality care to the cats in our rescue. Key Responsibilities
- Medical Care & Treatment: Perform routine procedures, including vaccinations, blood draws, and medication administration.
- Animal Restraint: Safely provide restraint during examinations and medical procedures, ensuring minimal stress for the cats.
- Animal Husbandry: Assist with daily care routines such as grooming, to keep the cats healthy and comfortable.
- Cleaning & Organization: Maintain the cleanliness and organization of medical supplies, and equipment to ensure a safe, hygienic environment for the cats.
- Recording and organizing patient's medical history.
- Analyzing various animal behaviors and health conditions
Qualifications:

- Education: High school diploma or equivalent preferred; an associate degree in veterinary technology is preferred but not required.
- Certification: Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT) or Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) preferred but not required.
- Experience: At least 1 year of experience in a veterinary clinic, animal hospital, or animal rescue setting is a MUST.
- Skills & Knowledge:
- Comfortable handling and restraining cats, including those with special needs or behavioral challenges.
- Patience and calming abilities when handling unstable or nervous pets
- Experience with procedures such as subcutaneous, fluid administration, injections and medication administration preferred, but not required.
- Knowledge of animal health and medical terminology is a MUST.
- Ability to work independently and follow protocols while maintaining a compassionate approach to care.
- Experience with pet grooming tasks (bathing, nail trimming, etc.).
- Excellent communication skills for interacting with the team, volunteers, and potential adopters.
- English speaking with ability to speak Spanish is a plus.
- Strong time management, multitasking and organizational skills

- Competitive pay of $19-$20 per hour. Start at $19 per hour $20 after 30 days.

Pay: $19.00 - $20.00 per hour
