The Brooklyn Center Community School (BCCS) District is seeking applicants to join the Brooklyn Center Middle and High School team as a Media Aide for 2026-2027 school year. This position will start August 24, 2026.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Plan, organize and perform duties related to the operation and maintenance of the school library;
  • Circulate books, periodicals, audio-visual equipment and other library materials;
  • Schedule and coordinate classroom use of the library;
  • Assist students and staff in locating library resources and information;
  • Help teachers find materials for instructional presentations;
  • Use media materials to enhance the library collection and forward recommendations as appropriate;
  • Process new acquisitions;
  • Label and stamp materials;
  • Clean, cover and mend books and other media materials;
  • Train and provide work direction to parents and other volunteers;
  • Maintain records related to library purchases, overdue material, and lost or damaged materials;
  • Prepare bulletin boards and displays;
  • Conduct periodic inventory of collection;
  • Operate computers, copiers and audio-visual equipment;
  • Use an automated catalog, circulation and research library system;
  • Other duties as assigned


Knowledge, Skills, and, Abilities Preferred:

  • Ability to communicate information and ideas effectively, both orally and in written form;
  • Ability to understand and follow instructions precisely;
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with administrators, officials, associates, parents and the general public.


Working Conditions and Physical Efforts:

Vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word and conveying detailed or important instructions to others accurately, loudly or quickly; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels and to receive detailed information through oral communications and/or to make fine distinctions in sound; work requires preparing and analyzing written or computer data and observing general surroundings and activities; work occasionally requires exposure to outdoor weather conditions, exposure to bloodborne pathogens and may be required to wear specialized personal protective equipment and exposure to bodily fluids; may be required to wear a facemask or other PPE while working during pandemic outbreaks; work is generally in a moderately noisy location (e.g. business office, light traffic).

Pay and Benefits: $18.73- $22.25 DOQ- Comprehensive benefits based on the contract
Duty Days: School Year Schedule: 183 duty days, 7.5 hours per day
Qualifications: High School diploma or GED. Associates degree or 60 college credits preferred
