Responsibilities
- Deliver training sessions on Medical Coding and Dental Coding through theory and practical classes.
- Train students on ICD-10-CM, CPT, HCPCS, CDT (Dental Codes) and related coding standards.
- Teach medical and dental terminology, anatomy, physiology, healthcare documentation, and coding guidelines.
- Prepare structured lesson plans, presentations, assignments, quizzes, and hands-on coding exercises.
- Train learners to code real-world medical and dental cases, including clinical notes, treatment plans, and insurance claims.
- Guide students in preparation for certification exams (AAPC, AHIMA, AMCA, ADA/ADCA or equivalent, where applicable).
- Assess student performance, maintain training records, and provide continuous academic feedback.
- Stay updated with changes in medical and dental coding guidelines, payer rules, and compliance standards.
- Maintain a professional classroom environment and ensure high-quality training delivery at all times.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Medical, Dental, Nursing, Biomedical, Allied Health, or related field.
- Certified Medical Coder (CPC, CCS, CIC, CPB or equivalent) preferred.
- Dental Coding certification or proven experience in dental coding (CDT) is highly desirable.
- Proven experience in medical and/or dental coding, auditing, or healthcare documentation.
- Strong knowledge of ICD-10-CM, CPT, HCPCS, CDT, modifiers, and claims processes.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and classroom management skills.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with billing software, EHR, and dental practice management systems.
- Knowledge of insurance guidelines, revenue cycle management, and claim submission (medical & dental).
- Ability to handle practical case studies, live coding scenarios, and exam preparation sessions.
- Strong mentoring skills with the ability to support students toward certification success.
