Medical Assistant

The Medical Assistant will provide both clinical and administrative support to the physician, assisting in the delivery of comprehensive cardiovascular care. This role requires strong multitasking abilities, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate effectively with patients undergoing cardiac evaluation and treatment. A professional demeanor and positive attitude are essential.

Responsibilities

• Room patients and obtain comprehensive cardiac-focused histories
• Record vital signs, including blood pressure, pulse oximetry, and weight
• Perform and document 12-lead EKGs
• Assist with cardiac monitoring setup (e.g., Holter monitors, event monitors)
• Administer injections as directed (e.g., anticoagulants, vaccines)
• Process prescription refill requests, including cardiac medications
• Enter lab and diagnostic orders through the EMR system
• Assist with prior authorizations for cardiac imaging (e.g., echocardiograms, stress tests, CT scans)
• Coordinate referrals and follow-up appointments
• Perform spirometry testing when indicated
• Clean, prepare, and restock exam rooms and clinical areas
• Support general clinical and administrative functions as needed

Qualifications

• Minimum of one year experience as a Medical Assistant in a clinical setting (Cardiology experience strongly preferred)
• Experience with eClinicalWorks or other electronic medical record systems preferred
• Strong understanding of cardiac terminology and cardiovascular medications
• Proficiency in EKG performance and interpretation basics
• Strong computer and documentation skills
• Excellent organizational, multitasking, and communication abilities
• Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and team-focused
• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Current Medical Assistant certification preferred

Pay: $15.00 - $18.00 per hour
