About Us:
The Lung Center is a private practice specializing in pulmonology and sleep medicine. We are committed to providing exceptional care to our patients in a supportive and professional environment. We are seeking a Medical Assistant / Back Office Representative to join our team and play a vital role in ensuring smooth clinical operations and patient care.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Clinical Responsibilities:
- Perform patient intake including chart review, medical history, and vital signs.
- Administer immunizations and injections per provider orders.
- Perform chest X-rays and Pulmonary Function Tests (PFTs).
- Act as a scribe during physician-patient consultations and enter information accurately into the EMR.
- Prepare exam rooms and ensure cleanliness and readiness for patient visits.
Administrative Responsibilities:
- Accurately document patient data and clinical services in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system.
- Schedule patient procedures and follow-up appointments.
- Coordinate with front office and other medical staff to ensure efficient patient flow.
- Maintain supplies, order inventory, and assist with back-office organization.
Compliance and Safety:
- Follow all OSHA, HIPAA, and clinic-specific guidelines and protocols.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and ensure a secure working environment.
- Participate in regular training, staff meetings, and ongoing education.
Qualifications:
- High School diploma or equivalent (Required)
- At least 1 year of experience working in a clinical setting (Preferred)
- Experience with EMR systems (Preferred)
- Experience obtaining and recording vital signs (Preferred)
Licenses/Certifications:
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or equivalent (Preferred)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification (must be able to obtain)
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Proficient in use of computers and electronic medical systems
- Ability to maintain professionalism and discretion at all times
Work Conditions:
- Clinical and office environment
- Frequent standing, walking, and occasional lifting up to 25 lbs
- Direct contact with patients and medical equipment
