Rocky Mountain Gastroenterology is looking for a Medical Assistant to join our team. This position is onsite to support patient care and team operations. Future scheduling adjustments, such as a hybrid schedule, may be considered based on business needs.
Purpose: Works closely with patients, physicians, and medical office staff to support our mission of providing the best care that patients deserve.
RESPONSIBILITIES FOR THIS ROLE:
- Manage prior authorizations, including submission, follow-up, and payer communication.
- Prepare exam rooms in orderly manner with necessary instruments and supplies.
- Capture relevant information about the patient's current health and healthcare.
- Prepare patients for examination by obtaining patient histories and vital signs.
- Communicate with patients by phone and email and loop in the physician when necessary.
- Phone in patient prescriptions and documents accordingly in patient chart.
- Attentive to patient’s needs and coordination of care; document appropriately.
- Complete pathology call-backs/results in a timely manner.
- Handle prescription refill requests and other calls/voicemails promptly.
- Assist with successful patient recalls; follow-up to bring them back in when they are due for another appointment or procedure.
- Able and willing to be cross trained to perform front office, scheduling and other duties, as needed.
- Other duties as assigned by the physician/office manager.
DESIRABLE QUALITIES IN A CANDIDATE:
- High school diploma, some college strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of EMR and AllScripts highly desirable.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information, required.
- A sense of discipline to work in accordance with accepted medical standards.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to understand patient medical records, physician orders, and medication orders.
- Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities and function as a team-player.

COMPENSATION: $20-$23/hr - depending on several factors including, but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc.
