Medical Assistant – Job Description

Responsibilities
Include, but are not limited to:

• Verify all prescriptions, dosages, and medication lists for accuracy
• Confirm and document patient allergies
• Assist providers with minor office procedures as needed
• Prepare and maintain treatment rooms for patient examinations and procedures
• Administer injections and perform venipuncture for laboratory testing when required
• Educate patients on proper self-administration of injections
• Respond to phone calls and messages in a caring, courteous, and professional manner
• Maintain clean, organized, and fully stocked exam rooms at all times
• Ensure availability of patient medication resources (e.g., educational materials, copay cards); replenish copies as needed
• Provide patients with orders for outside testing (labs, imaging, etc.) when applicable
• Process prescription refills as directed by the provider
• Complete prior authorization requests for medications
• Maintain strict confidentiality of patient records in accordance with HIPAA guidelines
• Request and follow up on laboratory and imaging results as instructed
• Prepare patient charts in advance, including recent labs and office notes for upcoming appointments

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Medical Assistant Diploma
• Friendly, professional demeanor with a strong patient-service focus
• Basic computer skills, including typing and familiarity with EHR systems
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, including proper grammar and spelling

Summary

As a Medical Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting both clinical and administrative functions within the practice. Working closely with healthcare providers, you will assist with patient care, ensure accurate documentation, and help maintain efficient daily operations. This role requires strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to delivering compassionate, high-quality care in a fast-paced environment.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $16.50 - $18.50 per hour
