General Summary
Under the supervision of the Physician/Provider, assists in minor office procedures and injections, performs patient intake assessments, discharges patients from clinic and procedures, educates patient on procedures and medication changes, as well as new medications. Manages message center including taking phone calls off voicemail and entering them into EHR, accessing OARRS reports for clinic visits and for use with prescription proposals. Is able to calculate medication due dates based on OARRS reports and patient plan of care as established by physician/provider.
Education, Licensure, Registration And Experience
High School graduate or equivalent
Medical Assistant certification
Knowledge of office procedures and equipment
Experience in giving injections
Typing And Medical Terminology Experience Required
CPR certification required
Prior Authorization And Precertification Experience Preferred
Individual must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patient served on his/her assigned department. The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient status and needs and to provide the care needed as described in the area's policies and procedures.
Essential Functions
Assist Physician/Provider with patient care as required.
Maintain patient records, and prepare necessary forms for billing, prior authorization of meds if indicated.
Answer telephone calls and places calls as directed.
Documents all messages.
Is able to know, understand, and follow directions as given by the Physician/Provider.
Stocking supplies and completing form for needed equipment and supplies.
Conducts vital signs, EKG's and pain assessment. Reviews H&P and MAR.
Schedules patient visits and assists with charts.
Individual must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patient served on his/her assigned department. The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to their age-specific needs and to provide the care needed as described in the area's policies and procedures.
