Responsibilities
- Greet patients warmly, verify their information, and assist with patient intake processes.
- Measure and record vital signs such as blood pressure, temperature, pulse, and respiration rates accurately.
- Prepare patients for examinations by explaining procedures and ensuring comfort.
- Assist healthcare providers with clinical tasks including medication administration, wound care, X-ray procedures, and basic life support when necessary.
- Manage electronic health records (EHR systems) efficiently by documenting patient histories, treatment plans, ICD coding, and other relevant data.
- Support hospital medicine teams by coordinating inpatient care activities within Level I or Level II trauma centers or specialized units like PICU or Geriatrics.
- Perform basic physiology and anatomy assessments to aid in diagnosis and treatment planning.
- Conduct routine laboratory tasks such as specimen collection or assisting with X-ray imaging under supervision.
- Provide exceptional patient service by answering questions, scheduling follow-ups, and ensuring a positive experience.
- Support medical administrative functions including appointment scheduling, insurance verification, and maintaining accurate documentation.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Medical Assistant in outpatient clinics or hospital settings; experience in dermatology, urgent care, or emergency medicine is highly valued.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, physiology, anatomy, ICD coding, and medication administration protocols.
- Familiarity with EHR systems for efficient documentation and patient record management.
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) required; additional certifications such as X-ray operation or OR experience are advantageous.
- Prior hospital experience including Level I or Level II trauma centers preferred; experience in inpatient units like PICU or Geriatrics is a plus.
- Strong communication skills with a focus on patient service excellence; ability to work effectively in fast-paced environments such as urgent care or medical-surgical units.
