Start your healthcare career with paid hand on training through UNC Health’s Medical Assistant Apprenticeship Program (MAAP)!
This full-time, 12-month program combines up to 2,000 hours of on-the-job training with 144 hours of online coursework to prepare participants for a career as a Certified Medical Assistant.
Apprentices will progress through three learning phases — Administrative Apprentice I, Basic Clinical Apprentice II, and Intermediate Clinical Apprentice III — while working in an outpatient clinic setting.
Upon successful completion, participants are eligible to take the NHA Medical Assistant Certification Exam and, once certified, may apply for a permanent Medical Assistant I, Certified position within UNC Health.

This is a State position employed by The University of North Carolina Hospitals at Chapel Hill d/b/a UNC Health Complete Care with UNC Health benefits.
