Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Medical Assistant to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our medical office, providing essential administrative support while maintaining a high standard of patient service. This position requires proficiency in various medical software systems and a strong understanding of medical terminology and coding practices.
Duties
- Manage patient scheduling, including appointments and follow-ups, ensuring efficient use of clinic resources.
- Handle medical billing and collections, verifying insurance information and processing payments.
- Maintain accurate medical records and documentation in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Review care plans and assist with the preparation of patient intake forms.
- Utilize Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, eClinicalWorks, and others for documentation and record-keeping.
- Perform coding for diagnoses using ICD-9, ICD-10, CPT coding, ensuring accuracy for billing purposes.
- Provide clerical support including filing, typing, and managing multi-line phone systems with excellent phone etiquette.
- Assist in the management of front desk operations to enhance patient experience and service delivery.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to ensure seamless communication regarding patient care plans.
Skills
- Proficient in medical terminology and coding practices (ICD coding, CPT coding).
- Familiarity with EMR systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, eClinicalWorks, and others is highly desirable.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail for documentation review and filing processes.
- Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite; ability to type efficiently (10 key typing).
- Experience in medical administrative support or front desk operations within a clinic or hospital setting is preferred.
