Medical Assistant - Employee Care Clinic - La Jolla & Hillcrest

Scripps Health Administrative Services supports our five hospital campuses, 31 outpatient centers, clinics, emergency rooms, urgent care sites, along with our 17,000 employees, more than 3,000 affiliated physicians and 2,000 volunteers.

This is a benefited, full-time position (40 hours every 2 weeks) working 10-hr shifts generally from 6:00am-4:30pm on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays. Depending on department needs, shift times may vary. Located at both Employee Care Clinics in La Jolla (Poole Building) and Hillcrest (Scripps 550 Building Mercy Hospital).

Your job duties:

  • Rooming patients, checking vitals, assisting with procedures
  • Clinic prep assisting with Provider specific protocols
  • Maintains a clean, organized, and safe environment
  • Organizes and performs patient care services that support the provider's practice
  • Relaying instructions from the provider to the patient or authorized person
  • Collecting patient data in person and by phone
  • Documenting patient concerns, messages and care provided in the electronic medical record for the provider's review
  • Administering medications specifically directed by the provider
  • Scheduling of appointments and procedures
  • Complete and accurate message taking
  • Routing messages to the appropriate area for direction
  • Setting up of cases in EPIC plus basic registration and updating of demographics

Required Qualifications:

  • Completion of a formal Medical Assistant Program OR hold a Medical Assistant Certification OR have a minimum of two years of experience as a military corpsman
  • BLS certification for the Healthcare Provider by the American Heart Association (AHA)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 1 year of experience working as Medical Assistant
  • Occupational Health/Worker’s Comp or Primary Care experience preferred
  • EPIC experience

Position Pay Range: $25.95-$32.56/hour
