Position: Medical Assistant

Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:30 am - 5:00 pm

Employment Setting: Clinic, in-person

Compensation: $60,320 annually

Hire Date: 1-2 weeks

Job Description:

Everest Health is seeking experienced Medical Assistants with high emotional intelligence and a thirst for learning to join our clinical team. As a Medical Assistant, you will play a crucial role in providing excellent patient care and ensuring the smooth operation of our flagship office.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Take patient vitals and assist physicians as requested.
  • Follow up on appointments via phone calls.
  • Provide trained education and coaching via telemedicine.
  • Perform and assist with all duties related to laboratory testing and specimen collection.
  • Administer non-intravenous injections and assist with front office and administrative tasks.
  • Optimize patient satisfaction, provider time, and treatment room utilization.
  • Open and close office duties, including organizing schedules and completing referrals.
  • Monitor and manage supply inventory and ordering.
  • Perform EKGs, VO2max tests, and other measures of functional and cardiovascular health.
  • Provide education and coaching for lifestyle and behavioral health modifications.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, HIPAA, CLIA, and State of Virginia regulations.
  • Participate in continuous education to maintain qualifications.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Medical Assistant Certification or at least 2 years of experience with a learning attitude.
  • 1-2 years of clinical experience in a physician office or ambulatory care setting
  • Computer literacy and familiarity with EMR
  • Proficiency in phlebotomy and various specimen collection techniques.
  • Thorough knowledge of HIPAA, OSHA, CLIA, and State of Virginia regulatory protocols
  • CPR certification
  • 1-2 years experience in medical supplies ordering and inventory-management
  • 1-2 years experience in prescription monitoring and ordering and prior-authorizations
  • Startup attitude: creative, eager to learn, and excellent critical-thinking skills
  • Exceptional interpersonal, verbal communication, and writing skills

  • Behaves in a professional and empathetic manner to build trust, comfort, understanding, and relationships with patients.
  • Welcomes (including eye contact, smile, greeting, and personal introduction) the patient and secondary guest(s) to the clinic, ensuring comfort and anticipating needs.
  • Has attention to detail and accuracy with documentation and communication with patients and providers.
  • Feels personal ownership in providing excellent care and patient experience as a team through highly choreographed standard work; never satisfied with reaching measured goals, but strives to continually improve.
  • Identifies and participates in process improvement and problem solving in the work to decrease defects/barriers, enhance patient satisfaction and experience, and reduce waste and/or cost.
  • Has commitment to providing excellent patient care.
