Medical Assistant Instructor

Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and dedicated Medical Assistant Instructor to join our educational team. You will be teaching a class of interested students as an elective option to the high school. In this role, you will be responsible for delivering comprehensive instruction to aspiring medical assistants, preparing them for successful careers in healthcare. Your expertise will help students develop essential clinical, administrative, and patient care skills through engaging classroom and laboratory experiences. Duties

  • Develop and deliver engaging lessons on medical assisting topics, including medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, patient care, and laboratory procedures
  • Design and update curriculum materials aligned with current industry standards and accreditation requirements
  • Supervise students during clinical practice sessions, ensuring adherence to safety protocols and quality standards
  • Assess student performance through exams, practical demonstrations, and documentation review to ensure competency
  • Incorporate learning technology such as Learning Management Systems (LMS) like Blackboard to facilitate online coursework and assessments
  • Provide mentorship and support to students working with diverse populations in simulated or real healthcare settings
  • Collaborate with faculty on curriculum development projects related to clinical research, hospital experience, or veterinary terminology when applicable
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress, attendance, and clinical hours in compliance with institutional policies
  • Facilitate classroom discussions on topics such as acute care, public health, pediatrics, and veterinary terminology when relevant
  • Stay current with advancements in medical assisting practices by participating in professional development opportunities

Skills

  • Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, nursing practices, and patient care procedures
  • Experience supervising students in clinical or classroom settings within higher education environments
  • Proficiency with Learning Management Systems (LMS) such as Blackboard or similar platforms for online instruction
  • Familiarity with laboratory techniques, hospital environments, acute care settings, and clinical research processes
  • Excellent teaching skills tailored to adult learners and those pursuing higher education credentials in healthcare fields
  • Ability to develop innovative curricula that incorporate current trends in public health, veterinary terminology, or veterinary critical care when applicable
  • Effective communication skills for working with students from diverse backgrounds and levels of experience
  • Knowledge of documentation review processes related to clinical trials or patient records management
  • Experience working in hospital or veterinary critical care settings is a plus but not required
