Position Summary The Medical Assistant Trainer is responsible for training, mentoring, and supporting Medical Assistants to ensure high-quality patient engagement and compliance with Remote Patient Monitoring (RPM), Chronic Care Management (CCM), and telehealth workflows. This role will develop training materials, conduct onboarding sessions, monitor performance, and provide ongoing coaching to ensure Medical Assistants effectively support clinical teams and deliver exceptional patient experiences. The Medical Assistant Trainer will work closely with Nurse Practitioners, Care Navigators, and leadership to ensure all team members are proficient in patient communication, dashboard monitoring, EMR documentation, and regulatory compliance.


Key Responsibilities

  • Train and onboard newly hired Medical Assistants on clinical workflows, RPM monitoring procedures, patient communication standards, and documentation protocols.
  • Develop and maintain training materials, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and job aids related to Medical Assistant responsibilities.
  • Provide ongoing coaching and mentorship to Medical Assistants to ensure consistent adherence to company standards and best practices.
  • Monitor team performance, documentation quality, and workflow compliance across RPM and CCM services.
  • Collaborate with Nurse Practitioners, Care Navigators, and leadership to ensure Medical Assistants are effectively supporting patient care coordination.
  • Train staff on monitoring patient vital signs through RPM dashboards and appropriately responding to alerts.
  • Ensure Medical Assistants properly document patient interactions, medical history updates, vital statistics, and care coordination activities within the EMR.
  • Review call handling, patient outreach efforts, and documentation to ensure quality, accuracy, and professionalism.
  • Educate Medical Assistants on escalation protocols and ensure appropriate communication with nurses and nurse practitioners when clinical concerns arise.
  • Train staff on the use of EMR systems (including AdvancedMD), Salesforce workflows, and other operational platforms.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives by identifying workflow gaps and recommending process enhancements.
  • Ensure all Medical Assistants maintain strict adherence to healthcare regulations, including HIPAA and internal compliance policies.
  • Assist leadership with performance feedback, skill development, and training assessments for Medical Assistants.

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required;
  • Medical Assistant certification required.
  • Bilingual fluency in Spanish or Chinese a huge plus.
  • 3+ years of experience working as a Medical Assistant in a fast-paced healthcare setting (prior telehealth experience a huge plus).
  • Prior experience training, mentoring, or supervising Medical Assistants or healthcare staff preferred.
  • Strong understanding of Remote Patient Monitoring (RPM), telehealth workflows, and patient care coordination.
  • Experience working with EMR systems (AdvancedMD preferred).
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to train and coach staff effectively.
  • Strong organizational and leadership skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to evaluate staff performance and provide constructive feedback.
