Medical Assistant with Infusion Experience

Medical Assistant – Infusion (IV Experienced)
San Antonio

We are recruiting for a Medical Assistant with strong IV skills and infusion experience to join our practice in San Antonio. This is a clinical Medical Assistant role that supports both infusion therapy and standard MA workflows.

What you do in this position makes an exceptional difference in the quality of our patients’ lives. Our infusion team provides IV therapy in the office setting, performs patient assessments, educates patients on their treatment, and monitors them throughout their infusion.

This role requires a candidate who is already comfortable starting peripheral IVs independently and functioning in a fast-paced clinical environment.

Core Responsibilities

  • Start peripheral IVs independently and maintain IV access for infusions
  • Administer infused medications and injections per provider orders and protocol
  • Perform patient intake, rooming, and vital signs
  • Monitor patients during and after infusion and report changes in condition
  • Provide patient education related to infusion therapy
  • Perform discharge processes and documentation
  • Support standard Medical Assistant clinical workflows as needed

Required Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience starting IVs (must be able to perform venipuncture independently)
  • Experience in infusion, phlebotomy, specialty clinic, hospital, or similar high-volume IV setting
  • Current Medical Assistant certification or equivalent clinical experience
  • Active CPR certification (required prior to start date)
  • Knowledge of HIPAA, clinical documentation, and scope of practice
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Professional, patient-centered demeanor

Strongly Preferred

  • Infusion therapy experience in neurology, specialty infusion, oncology, rheumatology, gastroenterology, critical care, home health, or pediatrics
  • Experience with difficult IV access and high-volume infusion scheduling/workflows

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour

License/Certification:

  • BLS Certification (Preferred)

Ability to Relocate:

  • San Antonio, TX 78258: Relocate before starting work (Required)
