Medical Assistant/Receptionist

Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated bilingual (Spanish/portuguese) and detail-oriented Medical Assistant/Receptionist to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in medical administrative support and clinical assistance, with experience across various medical settings including outpatient clinics, hospital medicine, and urgent care. This role involves providing exceptional patient service, managing administrative tasks efficiently, and supporting clinical operations to ensure smooth and effective patient care delivery. The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent communication skills, a thorough understanding of medical terminology, and the ability to adapt to diverse healthcare environments.

Responsibilities

  • Greet patients warmly, verify insurance information, and assist with patient intake procedures.
  • Record vital signs accurately and update patient records within Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems.
  • Assist healthcare providers with clinical tasks such as specimen collection, medication administration, and basic life support procedures.
  • Prepare examination rooms, sterilize equipment, and ensure a clean environment in compliance with health standards.
  • Manage appointment scheduling, patient follow-ups, and coordinate referrals or diagnostic tests like X-ray or laboratory services.
  • Support documentation of ICD coding for billing purposes and ensure accurate recordkeeping of patient interactions.
  • Provide compassionate patient care by addressing questions, explaining procedures, and maintaining confidentiality at all times.
  • Collaborate with medical staff across specialties including dermatology, internal medicine, geriatrics, emergency medicine, and hospital-based units such as PICU or Level I Trauma Centers.

Experience

  • Previous experience working in outpatient clinics, hospital medicine units, or urgent care centers is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with EHR systems and medical administrative support functions is essential.
  • Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, ICD coding, and medication administration enhances effectiveness in this role.
  • Experience supporting inpatient or outpatient care within Level I or Level II trauma centers is advantageous.
  • Background in dermatology, emergency medicine, geriatrics, or surgical environments such as OR settings is a plus.
  • Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) or equivalent is required; additional certifications related to hospital or emergency medicine are beneficial.

Pay: $23.00 - $30.00 per hour
