Medical Assistant/Receptionist

Job Overview
Join our dynamic healthcare team as a Medical Assistant/Receptionist at our primary care office, where you will play a vital role in delivering exceptional patient care and ensuring smooth clinic operations. This energetic position combines front-office responsibilities with clinical support, offering an engaging environment for motivated individuals passionate about healthcare. You will be the first point of contact for patients, providing welcoming service while supporting medical staff with essential clinical tasks. Duties

  • Greet patients warmly, verify their information, and assist with check-in and check-out processes using Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems
  • Obtain and record vital signs, medical history, and reason for visit to facilitate accurate diagnosis and treatment planning
  • Assist healthcare providers with clinical tasks such as intake procedures, medication administration, and basic life support when necessary
  • Prepare examination rooms, sterilize equipment including X-ray machines if applicable, and ensure all clinical areas are clean and organized
  • Manage appointment scheduling, patient follow-up communications, and maintain accurate documentation of patient interactions
  • Support medical staff with ICD coding (International Classification of Diseases) for billing purposes and ensure compliance with healthcare regulations
  • Handle administrative duties including answering phones, managing patient records, verifying insurance information, and coordinating referrals or lab orders

Experience

  • Prior experience working in dermatology, hospital medicine, urgent care, or outpatient clinics is highly desirable
  • Demonstrated knowledge of medical terminology, physiology, anatomy, and emergency medicine protocols
  • Experience with EHR systems and medical administrative support functions is essential
  • Familiarity with hospital environments such as Level I Trauma Centers or Level II Trauma Centers enhances your ability to adapt quickly in high-pressure situations
  • Hands-on experience with inpatient settings or specialized areas like PICU (Pediatric Intensive Care Unit), Geriatrics, Medical-surgical units, or OR (Operating Room) support is a plus
  • Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) or Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) is preferred to ensure readiness for emergency situations
  • Previous clinic experience involving intake procedures, vital signs collection, ICD coding, X-ray support, or medication administration will set you apart
