Job Duties (may change based on experience and certifications):
- Work in a busy orthopedic clinic/urgent care in Coeur d’Alene and Hayden Idaho
- Greet and prepare patients for exams and procedures
- Room patients, perform vitals and intake, obtaining patient's history and chief complaint
- Ensure compliance with quality standards and maintain accurate documentation in accordance with MIPS (Merit-based Incentive Payment System) regulations
- Assist orthopedic physicians during examinations, minor procedures, and treatments
- Apply and remove braces, splints, casts, or orthopedic devices as directed
- Schedule appointments, tests, and follow-up visits
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records using Athena Health
- Ensure exam rooms are clean, stocked, and properly equipped
- Coordinate communication between patients, providers, and other healthcare team members
- Provide patient education regarding orthopedic procedures and post-care instructions
- Perform administrative tasks including answering phones, verifying insurance, and processing paperwork
- Scribe patient visits
- Enter orders, referrals and prescriptions based on physician's recommendations.
- Process incoming documents
- Assist in completion of forms for patients
- Support scheduling staff with obtaining prior authorizations for appointments and procedures as needed
- Support in other areas of clinic as needed
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Minimum 1 year of experience in a medical setting; orthopedic experience a plus
- Proficiency with electronic medical records (EMR/EHR), Athena preferably
- Excellent communication, organization, and multitasking skills
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Must be able to lift 50lbs and walk/stand for long periods of time
Preferred Skills:
- Knowledge of musculoskeletal anatomy and orthopedic terminology
- Experience with casting or DME fitting
- Bilingual (English/Spanish or other languages) a plus
- Certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA, RMA, or equivalent) preferred but not required
- CPR/BLS certification
