Medical Assistant/Scribe

Job Duties (may change based on experience and certifications):

• Work in a busy orthopedic clinic/urgent care in Coeur d’Alene and Hayden Idaho
• Greet and prepare patients for exams and procedures
• Room patients, perform vitals and intake, obtaining patient's history and chief complaint
• Ensure compliance with quality standards and maintain accurate documentation in accordance with MIPS (Merit-based Incentive Payment System) regulations
• Assist orthopedic physicians during examinations, minor procedures, and treatments
• Apply and remove braces, splints, casts, or orthopedic devices as directed
• Schedule appointments, tests, and follow-up visits
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records using Athena Health
• Ensure exam rooms are clean, stocked, and properly equipped
• Coordinate communication between patients, providers, and other healthcare team members
• Provide patient education regarding orthopedic procedures and post-care instructions
• Perform administrative tasks including answering phones, verifying insurance, and processing paperwork
• Scribe patient visits
• Enter orders, referrals and prescriptions based on physician's recommendations.
• Process incoming documents
• Assist in completion of forms for patients
• Support scheduling staff with obtaining prior authorizations for appointments and procedures as needed
• Support in other areas of clinic as needed

Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Minimum 1 year of experience in a medical setting; orthopedic experience a plus
• Proficiency with electronic medical records (EMR/EHR), Athena preferably
• Excellent communication, organization, and multitasking skills
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
• Must be able to lift 50lbs and walk/stand for long periods of time

Preferred Skills:

• Knowledge of musculoskeletal anatomy and orthopedic terminology
• Experience with casting or DME fitting
• Bilingual (English/Spanish or other languages) a plus
• Certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA, RMA, or equivalent) preferred but not required
• CPR/BLS certification

Pay: $19.00 - $23.00 per hour
