We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Medical Biller with a strong background in patient collections, insurance payment posting, and professional billing to join our team. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and confident when discussing balances and payment arrangements with patients.
This position requires strong insurance knowledge, experience with professional and hospital-based claims, and advanced computer proficiency—particularly in NextGen and/or eClinicalWorks.
Responsibilities
- Manage and follow up on patient balances and aging accounts receivable
- Perform patient collections and establish payment arrangements
- Post insurance payments (EOBs/ERAs) and patient payments accurately and timely
- Prepare, balance, and reconcile daily bank deposits
- Verify insurance eligibility and benefits (HMOs, PPOs, Medi-Cal, and Medicare)
- Submit and manage professional claims, including hospital-based services
- Work and resolve denied or rejected claims
- Communicate with insurance carriers regarding claim status and payment issues
- Respond to patient inquiries regarding statements and balances
- Maintain accurate documentation within the practice management system
- Assist with month-end reconciliation and reporting as needed
Qualifications
- Minimum 3+ years of medical billing experience required
- Strong knowledge of Medi-Cal, Medicare, HMOs, and PPOs
- Experience with professional billing and hospital-based claims
- Experience billing for medical specialists preferred
- Proven experience posting insurance payments and reconciling deposits
- Experience verifying insurance eligibility and benefits
- Strong computer skills required
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (sorting, filtering, basic formulas)
- Hands-on experience with NextGen and/or eClinicalWorks (eCW) strongly preferred
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills (comfortable speaking with physicians, patients, insurance representatives, and billing staff daily)
- Spanish speaking preferred

Compensation: Competitive and based on experience
Pay: $24.00 - $27.50 per hour
