Duties

• Review and verify medical records to ensure completeness and accuracy before billing
• Assign appropriate diagnosis codes using ICD-9, ICD-10, and ICD coding standards to facilitate precise billing
• Utilize CPT (Current Procedural Terminology) codes and DRG (Diagnosis-Related Group) classifications for procedure coding
• Submit claims electronically through EMR (Electronic Medical Records) or EHR (Electronic Health Records) systems and follow up on claim statuses
• Manage medical collections by contacting insurance companies, patients, and third-party payers to resolve outstanding balances
• Maintain detailed documentation of billing activities, medical records, and correspondence for audit purposes
• Stay current with healthcare regulations and updates in medical coding standards to ensure compliance

Experience

• Proven experience in medical billing, medical coding, or related healthcare administrative roles
• Strong knowledge of ICD-9, ICD-10, CPT coding systems, and DRG classifications
• Familiarity with medical terminology and medical records management
• Experience working with EMR or EHR systems is highly preferred
• Excellent understanding of insurance claim processes and medical collection procedures
• Ability to interpret complex medical documentation accurately and efficiently
• Prior experience in a healthcare office environment is advantageous

Pay: $20.80 - $23.00 per hour
