Responsibilities

• Prepare and submit accurate medical claims using Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems, ensuring compliance with coding standards such as CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD-9, ICD-10, and DRG (Diagnosis-Related Group) classifications.
• Review medical records and documentation to verify coding accuracy and completeness before billing.
• Follow up on unpaid or denied claims by communicating with insurance providers and patients to resolve discrepancies or issues.
• Maintain detailed records of billing activities, payments received, and outstanding balances for efficient account management.
• Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify diagnoses or procedures that require additional documentation for proper coding.
• Stay updated on changes in healthcare regulations, coding guidelines, and payer policies to ensure ongoing compliance.

Skills

• Strong knowledge of medical terminology, medical records management, and healthcare documentation standards.
• Proficiency in medical coding including CPT, ICD-9, ICD-10, ICD coding systems, and DRG classifications.
• Experience with medical billing processes, including claim preparation, submission, follow-up, and collections.
• Familiarity with EMR (Electronic Medical Records) and EHR (Electronic Health Records) systems for efficient data entry and retrieval.
• Ability to interpret complex medical records and accurately assign appropriate codes for reimbursement purposes.
• Excellent communication skills for interacting with insurance companies, healthcare providers, and patients regarding billing inquiries.
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills to manage multiple claims and deadlines effectively.
