Responsibilities

• Review and analyze medical records to assign appropriate diagnosis and procedure codes using ICD-9, ICD-10, CPT, and DRG systems.
• Prepare and submit insurance claims accurately via EMR (Electronic Medical Records) and EHR (Electronic Health Records) systems.
• Follow up on unpaid or denied claims through effective medical collection strategies, including resubmissions and appeals.
• Maintain detailed documentation of billing activities, medical records, and correspondence with insurance providers.
• Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and coding guidelines to prevent billing errors or fraud.
• Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify documentation and ensure proper coding for maximum reimbursement.
• Stay updated on changes in medical coding standards, insurance policies, and billing procedures to enhance accuracy and efficiency.

Requirements

• Proven experience in medical billing, coding, or related administrative roles within a healthcare setting.
• Strong knowledge of medical terminology, medical records management, and healthcare documentation standards.
• Familiarity with ICD-9, ICD-10 diagnosis codes; CPT (Current Procedural Terminology) coding; DRG (Diagnosis-Related Group) classifications; and medical collection processes.
• Experience working with EMR/EHR systems for billing and record-keeping purposes.
• Ability to interpret complex medical records accurately for coding purposes.
• Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail to ensure precise billing operations.
