Responsibilities

• Prepare and submit accurate medical claims using Electronic Medical Record, and ICD-10.
• Review medical records and documentation to ensure proper coding, CPT coding, and ICD coding, for precise billing.
• Follow up on unpaid or denied claims by communicating with insurance companies and patients to resolve discrepancies or issues related to medical collections.
• Maintain detailed records of billing activities, claim status updates, and correspondence within the healthcare management system.
• Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and billing guidelines while accurately coding diagnoses and procedures for each patient encounter.
• Collaborate with medical office staff to verify patient information, insurance details, and medical records for billing accuracy.
• Stay current with industry updates related to medical coding standards, including changes in ICD-10 codes or DRG classifications, to ensure ongoing compliance.

Requirements

• Proven experience in medical billing with a strong understanding of medical terminology, medical records management, and healthcare documentation.
• Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems used for billing purposes.
• Knowledge of medical coding principles including CPT coding, ICD-9/ICD-10 coding systems, and their application in billing processes.
• Experience handling medical collections and resolving claim denials efficiently.
• Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational skills to manage multiple claims simultaneously.
• Ability to interpret complex medical records and translate them into accurate billing codes.
• Prior experience in a medical office setting is preferred; certification in medical billing or coding is a plus.
