Medical Billing Specialist

We are looking for a Billing Specialist in our McKinney, TX location. This position is responsible for billing insurance companies for physician bills and performs other work associated with the process.

Responsibilities:

• Prepares and submits physician claims to insurance carriers either electronically or by hard copy billing.
• Secures needed medical documentation required or requested by third party insurances.
• Follows up with third-party insurance carriers on unpaid claims until the claims are paid or only guarantor balance remains.
• Handle insurance appeals.
• Works with physician or medical record staff to ensure that correct diagnosis/procedures are reported to third party insurance carriers.
• May assist with rebills and/or posting payments to accounts.
• Monitors claims for missing information and authorization/control numbers.

Requirements:

• Proven experience as a Billing Specialist or similar role
• Working knowledge of MS Office and capability of multi-tasking in different databases
• Excellent communication skills (written and oral)
• Excellent problem-solving, accuracy and organizational skills
• High school diploma required. Associate or Bachelor’s degree is a plus
• Previous medical office experience and knowledge of billing procedures is desired
