Duties

  • Review medical records thoroughly to assign appropriate ICD-9, ICD-10, CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), and DRG (Diagnosis-Related Group) codes based on documented diagnoses, procedures, and treatments.
  • Ensure coding accuracy by adhering to current coding guidelines, medical terminology standards, and payer requirements.
  • Prepare and submit clean, complete medical claims for insurance reimbursement using advanced EMR/EHR systems.
  • Follow up on unpaid or denied claims through effective medical collection practices to optimize revenue recovery.
  • Maintain detailed and organized medical records, ensuring all documentation supports the coded diagnoses and procedures.
  • Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify documentation or resolve coding discrepancies promptly.
  • Stay updated on changes in coding regulations, insurance policies, and healthcare compliance standards to ensure ongoing accuracy.

Experience

  • Proven experience in medical coding and billing within a healthcare setting, with familiarity in DRG, CPT coding, ICD-9, ICD-10, and ICD coding systems.
  • Strong understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and disease processes to accurately interpret clinical documentation.
  • Prior experience working with EMR/EHR systems for efficient data entry and claim submission.
  • Knowledge of medical records management and compliance standards related to healthcare billing practices.
  • Excellent attention to detail combined with active problem-solving skills to address billing issues effectively.
  • Experience in medical collection processes is a plus, along with familiarity with insurance claim procedures.

Pay: $17.00 - $21.00 per hour
