Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Medical Coder and Biller to join our healthcare team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for accurately translating medical diagnoses, procedures, and services into standardized codes using systems such as ICD-9, ICD-10, CPT, and DRG. You will also handle the billing process to ensure timely and precise reimbursement from insurance companies and patients. Your expertise will help streamline medical record management, improve revenue cycle efficiency, and support high-quality patient care.
Duties
- Review and analyze medical records to assign appropriate ICD-9, ICD-10 diagnosis codes and CPT procedure codes based on documented services.
- Utilize DRG (Diagnosis-Related Group) classifications to facilitate hospital billing processes.
- Ensure accurate coding of medical records in compliance with current coding standards and regulations.
- Prepare and submit detailed medical bills using electronic Medical Record (EMR) or Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems.
- Follow up on unpaid claims through medical collection processes while maintaining professionalism and adherence to policies.
- Verify insurance coverage, process claims, and resolve billing discrepancies efficiently.
- Maintain thorough documentation of coding decisions, billing activities, and correspondence related to medical records.
Requirements
- Proven experience in medical coding and billing within a healthcare setting.
- Strong knowledge of ICD-9, ICD-10, CPT coding systems, as well as DRG classifications.
- Familiarity with medical terminology, anatomy, and medical records management.
- Experience working with EMR/EHR systems for documentation and billing purposes.
- Ability to interpret complex medical records accurately and assign appropriate codes accordingly.
- Excellent attention to detail combined with strong organizational skills.
- Knowledge of healthcare regulations related to medical coding and billing practices.
