Medical Director Psychiatrist – Residential Mental Health Program (Hybrid 1099)
Location: Boca Raton, Florida

Position Overview
We are seeking a compassionate, experienced Psychiatrist to serve as Medical Director for our inpatient residential mental health program in Boca Raton, Florida. This is a hybrid 1099 contractor role requiring daily remote chart review and sign-off, along with weekly on-site visits to provide direct patient care and clinical leadership.

The Medical Director will play a critical role in ensuring high-quality, evidence-based psychiatric care, regulatory compliance, and collaboration across the interdisciplinary team to support patient stabilization and recovery.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Leadership & Oversight
Serve as Medical Director for the residential program, providing psychiatric and medical oversight
Ensure compliance with Joint Commission standards, state regulations, and best practices
Provide guidance to nursing and clinical teams regarding psychiatric care and treatment planning

Patient Care
Conduct psychiatric evaluations, including Initial Psychiatric Evaluations (IPEs) and follow-ups
Diagnose and treat mental health disorders in a residential level of care setting
Prescribe and manage psychotropic medications, including monitoring for effectiveness and side effects
Develop and oversee individualized, evidence-based treatment plans

Hybrid Responsibilities
Perform daily remote chart review and timely electronic sign-off on documentation
Ensure all admissions, IPEs, H&Ps, and orders are reviewed within required timeframes
Be available for clinical consultation and urgent matters as needed
Provide weekly on-site presence for patient evaluations, IDT participation, and staff collaboration

Collaboration
Participate in interdisciplinary team (IDT) meetings
Collaborate with therapists, nursing staff, and case management to ensure continuity of care
Provide consultation to staff regarding complex psychiatric cases

Documentation & Compliance
Complete timely, accurate documentation in EMR in alignment with regulatory and payer expectations
Support medical necessity documentation for residential level of care
Ensure proper oversight of patient safety, risk assessments, and clinical protocols

Quality & Program Development
Assist in program development, policy review, and quality improvement initiatives
Stay current with advancements in psychiatry and integrate best practices into care delivery

Qualifications
MD or DO from an accredited medical school
Board Certified or Board Eligible in Psychiatry
Active and unrestricted Florida medical license
Active DEA license
Experience in residential, inpatient, or substance use/mental health settings preferred
Strong leadership, communication, and interdisciplinary collaboration skills

Contract Requirements
1099 Independent Contractor role
Must maintain active professional malpractice/liability insurance
Responsible for maintaining all required licensure and credentials

Schedule & Commitment
Hybrid Role: Daily remote chart review and sign-off required
Weekly on-site visit required (schedule coordinated with facility needs)
