We are looking for a qualified Lab Technician to undertake a variety of laboratory procedures of technical nature. You will be handling sensitive equipment to analyze samples or substances, conduct tests, and record findings.
Education: High school diploma. Successful completion of Medical Technologist, Medical Laboratory Technician, or Certified Laboratory Assistant program.
Other Requirements: American Medical Technologist certification or ASCP certification.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
- Perform venipunctures and fingersticks as needed. Be able to determine tube selection, generate requisitions for sending out tests, properly label specimens, know storage and handling requirements for in-house tests, and choose an appropriate lab based on the insurance carrier.
- Perform GTT-explain theory and determine if the patient meets fasting and carbohydrate loading requirements. Advise patient if further workup is required. Set up Diabetes Counseling when indicated.
- Perform testing for SPT, Strep, Glucose, Hemoglobin, CBC, CBCD, Prolactin, Progesterone, TSH, FSH, and BHCG.
- Accurately result patient tests in Orchard LIS.
- Perform daily startup of the lab as dictated in Laboratory Procedure Manual.
- Troubleshoot instrumentation and QC issues.
