Position Summary

Performs diagnostic testing following standardized procedures on patient samples which aids physicians in the diagnosis and/or monitoring of various disease states. Qualified to perform high complexity, moderate complexity, and waived testing. Qualified to work in all sections of the lab if required.

Responsibilities

Performs moderate to high complexity testing and waived diagnostic testing on patient samples

Performs quality testing and assesses acceptability of results to ensure accuracy of patient results generated by highly complex analyzers

Resolves problems with assistance from a Manager, Supervisor or MLS as needed

Interprets results as to accuracy, acceptability and critical limits, and communicates results to providers per standard policies

Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the field

Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals

Regular and predictable attendance is an essential job function

Performs other related duties as assigned

Competent to meet age specific needs of the unit assigned

Requirements and Minimum Qualifications

Associates degree in Medical Laboratory Technology required

Documented training as part of MLT program in clinical laboratory science focused on Hematology, Chemistry, Microbiology and Blood banking required

MLT (ASCP) certification required; if certified with an agency other than ASCP, obtaining an MLT (ASCP) certification is required within 3 years of hire

Working Conditions

Must be able to maintain a sitting position

Must be able to maintain a standing position

Must be able to stoop or crouch

Typical equipment used in a clinical job

Must be able to reach arms above or below shoulder height

Must be able to move or traverse with/without accommodation

Must be able to push, pull, or transport heavy equipment
