Medical Laboratory Technician/Veterinary Labratory Technician

Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Medical Laboratory Technician/Veterinary Laboratory Technician to join our dynamic healthcare and veterinary team. In this role, you will perform a variety of laboratory tests and diagnostic procedures essential for equine health assessments. This candidate will also support inventory and ordering to ensure this position fills a 40 hour work week. Your expertise will contribute to accurate diagnoses, effective treatments, and improved animal well-being. This unique position offers an exciting opportunity for individuals passionate about animal care, laboratory science, and veterinary medicine to make a meaningful impact every day. This is not a narrow, repetitive lab position. It offers a balanced mix of core diagnostics and meaningful involvement in expanding microbiology services, including cultures and cytology, in collaboration with lab leadership. Our laboratory is intentionally designed for comfort and functionality, featuring natural outdoor lighting and a workspace that supports focus, efficiency, and job satisfaction.

Qualifications:

  • MLT (ASCP) preferred or equivalent hands-on laboratory experience
  • Working knowledge of microbiology required
  • Familiarity with laboratory quality control practices and standard operating procedures
  • Ability to manage multiple responsibilities without sacrificing accuracy
  • High level of reliability, organization, and attention to detail
  • Strong work ethic with a genuine interest in laboratory medicine
  • Willingness to contribute ideas and improve workflows

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform routine diagnostic testing, including but not limited to:
  • Complete Blood Counts (CBCs)
  • Chemistry panels
  • Fecal egg counts
  • Perform EIA (Coggins) testing following certification
  • Assist in the development and expansion of in-house microbiology services (cultures and cytology)
  • Support all areas of the laboratory as needed, contributing to overall workflow and efficiency
  • Perform routine quality control procedures to ensure accuracy and reliability of test results
  • Assist with basic equipment maintenance and troubleshooting
  • Prepare and process samples for reference laboratory submission
  • Accurately enter, report, and distribute laboratory results
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and well-stocked lab environment in accordance with safety and regulatory standards

Inventory & Operational Support:

  • Assist with inventory management, including:
  • Ordering supplies
  • Maintaining inventory records
  • Uploading invoices
  • Provide backup support for inventory control as needed

Pay: $22.00 - $27.00 per hour
