Medical Librarian

Pay: $100,000 - $115,000

Job Description:

Oversee and lead the Medical Library to support the hospital's Graduate Medical Education (GME) programs, including developing and maintaining the library's collections, providing reference support to users, budget management, and technological enhancement.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the daily functions of the Clinical Learning Center (CLC) Medical Library and Satellite Library
  • Prepare and administer the annual library budget
  • Work with attendings, residents, nurses, students, and administration to build information literacy and promote the services of the resource library
  • Develop and maintain the collections of the Medical Library including print books, scholarly journals, and databases, managing licenses and subscription renewals
  • Ensure that the Medical Library meets all needs and requirements for GME inspections and accreditations
  • Prepare for and conduct biannual Library Committee meetings
  • Prepare quarterly reports for performance improvement, including statistics regarding usage of library spaces and resources
  • Manage the Medical Library team to fulfill all duties and responsibilities of the Medical Library, including providing reference services, interlibrary loan services, and orientation sessions
  • Oversee the maintenance of the Medical Library's website to provide accurate and up-to-date information regarding the library's services and resources
  • Apply for and obtain grant funding through the Metropolitan New York Library Council (METRO)
  • Monitor and update the policies and procedures manual for the Medical Library

Requirements:

  • Master's degree in Library Sciences from an ALA accredited school
  • Academy of Health Information Professionals (AHIP) membership preferred
  • 5-6 years of experience working in a medical library in an accredited teaching hospital

  • Master of Library Science or better
