Job Description: Medical Navigator / Medical Receptionist
Job Type: Full-Time or Part-Time
Compensation: Based on experience
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced and highly organized Medical Navigator to support our growing primary care practice. This role combines clinical and administrative responsibilities, including insurance verification, order entry, and real-time support for providers who are seeing patients in their homes and senior living communities. The ideal candidate has prior experience as a medical receptionist and is comfortable working in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
Administrative Duties
· Answer incoming calls and assist providers professionally and courteously
· Register new patients and update demographic information
· Verify insurance eligibility, benefits, and prior authorization requirements
· Collect and document copays and patient balances when applicable
· Manage incoming faxes and electronic documents
· Coordinate medical records requests and referrals
Clinical Support Duties
· Enter provider orders into the electronic health record (EHR)
· Prepare laboratory, imaging, and specialist referral orders
· Track outstanding orders and follow up on results
· Assist with medication refill requests
· Provide real-time support to providers while they are on the road seeing patients
Qualifications
· Minimum 2 years of experience as a Medical Receptionist
· Strong knowledge of insurance verification and prior authorization processes
· Experience entering laboratory, imaging, and referral orders
· Proficiency with electronic health record systems (experience with NextGen Healthcare EHR preferred)
· Excellent phone communication and customer service skills
· Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
· Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
· Familiarity with Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial insurance plans
